You will not find the same competitive atmosphere here like in schools of urban areas, however, a balanced and nurturing approached is embraced within classes as well as the hostel. Yet even though there is tranquillity surrounding everybody, sports as well as cultural actives are also participated in with enthusiasm.

Since 2013 to 2023 BEHS has participated in The Eisteddfod at Aliwal North.
They have been awarded Trophies for the best Dramatised groups as well as Choral Verse WINNERS!
As for experimental groups BEHS has been invited to particiate at Grahamstown Festival.
Regular annual School Concerts and Musicals are part and parcel of the school activities.
